Fox Curve Loop

Fox Curve Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Here is another treasure for cross-country skiers and snowshoers from the Rabbit Ears Pass area that has lots of ups and downs on a route that is well marked by blue blazes. As is typical for Rabbit Ears Pass, there are several magnificent open meadows along this loop. Rabbit Ears Pass receives good snowfall and offers several loop trails for the winter trekker. It is one of the premier Colorado winter playgrounds.

From the parking area, begin north to two signboards at the trailhead. Proceed to the left (west) and you will quickly reach a fork with two steeply descending trails. These are the beginning and ending parts of the Fox Curve Loop.

The counterclockwise approach starts at the right fork and proceeds down to a crossing of Walton Creek. A large, open basin will be on the left and you will follow a series of blue blazes, some on trees and some on poles, along the right side of the basin. At the northern edge of the clearing, enter the trees and ascend to the high point of this loop at a solitary stump on the right. The trail then drops to the valley floor and another vast, flat basin."

I did the loop clockwise from the trailhead. There were several streams to cross which were a little tricky being early in the season. I would go back and do this loop again.
