"If you like starting at high elevations and staying there, then this is the trail for you. It begins at 10,980 feet, reaches a high point at 11,735 feet, and then descends to Red Lake at 11,550 feet. Magnificent views, wildflowers, and animal life are a plus on this hike. Sign in at the register, and then hike Red Lake Trail 733. You’ll start on an old logging road, traveling through the trees at an easy-to-moderate grade. Soon you’ll reach the tree line and enjoy spacious views as you ascend to the wilderness boundary at 1.3 miles. After 1.5 miles you’ll see rock cairns heading west and northwest." Read more
