Crater Lake Trail

Crater Lake Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Crater Lake is a wonderful destination, especially for those who enjoy high alpine lakes and the opportunity to fish them. The hike there and back is exciting; it includes some of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). From the trail the views are tremendous, and there’s a chance to see much in the way of wildlife and wildflowers.

Hike west from the trailhead, traveling Crater Lake Trail 707 through subalpine forest and spacious meadows to an unmarked junction at 0.7 mile. Here Trail 707 and the CDT merge. The grade is moderate and the views are tremendous as you proceed above the tree line; in midsummer the wildflowers are gorgeous. Be sure to look for ptarmigan, as they enjoy this region."
