Big Meadows Reservoir Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Big Meadows Reservoir is a 110-acre reservoir in the headwaters of the South Fork of the Rio Grande.
Brook trout lake-fishing is quite a bit different than stream-fishing. The big brookies will run up into the shallows in the spring and fall and can be taken on small spinners, salmon eggs, and streamers like black leeches. In the summer they’ll stay below 20 feet deep, so use the same lures and bait but ?sh them deep. Rainbows will come up in the morning and evening during warm weather and can be taken with night crawlers, spinners, wet flies, and nymphs."
