Ute Pass to Ute Peak

Ute Pass to Ute Peak Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Splendid views greet hikers from Ute Pass to the ridge, but the trail drops to the east side through a dense coniferous forest, hiding the vistas before it climbs again. The summit of Ute Peak offers exquisite scenes of the Gore Range to the west and the Blue River far below.

As of 2007, the beetle infestation had not yet badly affected this part of the forest, but scenes of insect-inflicted devastation to the east should give hikers plenty to ponder regarding the effects of insect pests, drought, and climate change on our forest."
