Ingram Falls and Bridal Veil Falls at Telluride

Ingram Falls and Bridal Veil Falls (at Telluride) Professional Review and Guide

"Bridal Veil Creek flows northeast from Jackass Basin and plunges more than 300 feet at Bridal Veil Falls. Ingram Creek flows northwest from Ingram Basin and cascades hundreds of feet at Ingram Falls. The two waterfalls put on a dramatic show along the north slopes of 12,552-foot Ingram Peak, in Telluride.

There’s a road all the way up to the gate near the top of Bridal Veil Falls, so you can “drive” this hike if you like. The road is rugged though, and not recommended for passenger cars. If you hike it, you’ll get to see both falls from numerous viewpoints. Park at the bottom and hike up the road."

There are different options here for viewing the falls. The hike is up a dirt road and you can drive up there if your vehicle has four wheel drive, which makes the hike shorter. The road is so rough and rugged I would not attempt it in a passenger car. I would just hike up the road, although it is pretty steep and you have to deal with a lot of vehicles passing you on the road. From the main parking area (before the switchbacks begin) it is about a mile and a half one way. It is popular and heavily trafficked here, with switchbacks, but the hike isn't too hard, especially when you consider all the sublime and breathtaking views surrounding you. There is so much lush greenery, wildflowers, and amazing views of the falls and the valley. You can look out over Telluride, surrounded by gorgeous mountains and green hillsides. It is just stunning to stand at the base of the Bridal Veil Falls, water crashing down for 365 feet. They are misty, dramatic, gigantic, and so beautiful from bottom to top.
