This was my first time using info provided regarding the trail condition etc. I thought it would be obvious where to unload my atv
but I assume I went on past and soon found myself, trailer and all in some very nasty ruts etc. I was fortunate to get turned around but not before I did some damage to the front of my suv. Perhaps someone tried to warn me with their notes but it was not clear to me. I will not trust any trail that involves my bringing in my trailer without first testing it myself- on my atv. Very disappointing on info provided.

This is a beautiful trail with great views. When coming in from the north, there is a designated parking spot about a mile after the trail starts. You can park and walk out to the East and there is a huge rock ledge where you can see an amazing distance. Pikes peak is off to the south and you can see Downtown Denver even. The trail is moderately difficult in spots and you definitely couldn't get down there with a car. I had a almost stock Jeep Wrangler and it was no problem, but you might have to take it slow in some spots if you are in a larger stock SUV. This is definitely a great trip and I would recommend it to anyone.

We came down Dakan Road in my mostly stock 2005 Nissan Xterra, only modification are the skid plates from Shrockworks (I needed them!

The upper part of the road from Rampart Range Road to the gate is more difficult with high undulations and washed out ruts. This was challenging but a lot of fun for a fairly new off roader but the Xterra handled it well. This part of the road is not suitable if you do not have enough clearance. The 10 inch clearance on the Xterra was ok, but a couple of more inches would have been nice but not necessary. One spot about half way down did require some careful manuvering.
