"A long hike to a high scenic lake with access to Hunts Peak. From the Bear Creek Trailhead, hike southeast and begin climbing steeply over the next mile before descending again to Howard Creek and across several smaller creeks. The trail passes through private land, and camping is not permitted through this short section. The trail becomes gentler while still dipping to small creeks and climbing back out until it reaches Hunts Lake Trail on the right at about 6.0 miles. Just before you reach an obvious switchback in the Rainbow Trail, look for an old road leading to private property on the left. Just opposite is the Hunts Lake Trail. A sign here indicates the continuation of the Rainbow Trail to Stout Creek to the south and Bear Creek to the north."
