"The hike to Crater Lake is a popular one, and for good reason. Access to the trail’s start is easy and, with only one real climb, the hike is undemanding. Along the way the route crosses some impressive terrain before reaching a real gem of a lake. Whether you are looking for a nice day hike or an overnight destination, Crater Lake is an excellent possibility."

We logged closer to 12 miles but then my hiking partner checks out all animal scents. Came face to face with a badger; think he was more scared than we were. Churchill just would not give up on his scent.

Rained when we got to the uppper lake so trail a little juicy returning but a really great hike. Took us nearly 8 hours; not too shabby for a couple of old guys.

Starting from Andrew Lake this is a nice scenic hike up to Crater lake which sits quietly underneath a very majestic Twighlight Peak. The day we got there (in July) was early afternoon and a storm blew over Twighlight Peak and it started snowing so we had to pitch tents rather quickly. It seemed like a popular trail and we met some folks who would actually run up the entire trail and on up to the peak. One of them got caught up there in the storm and said he almost got hit by lighting. The storm was over fairly quickly. Its a beautiful little lake but a bit heavy on the traffic in July.
