The Colorado Trail US-50 to Marshall Pass

The Colorado Trail: US-50 to Marshall Pass Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This segment begins a 100-mile section of the CT without any convenient resupply points. Be sure you are prepared; it’s fairly lonely country. The first 8 miles are a pleasant walk in the forest, although definitely climbing. Then the CT takes a short, steep ascent that puts you above timberline and onto the crest of the Continental Divide.

The views are great. Through hikers will stay very close to the Divide for the next 150 miles. This has some good points— scenic views— and some cautions— low availability of water. There is very little of it to be found on the crest of the Divide, but some can usually be found within 0.25 mile on either side of the crest. If you follow the suggestions in the guidebook, you will hardly ever have to deviate very far from the CT to re-supply with water."
