Cochetopa Pass Road Professional Review and Guide
"The pass road remains an easy journey on a well-maintained road. The east side of the pass offers better scenery, with a varied environment of rock formations, pine forest, and open fields. On the west side of the pass, there is a broad view across Cochetopa Park to the rugged San Juan Mountains rising above Lake City.
This area has an extensive network of side roads that covers a large expanse of national forest, offering the curious four-wheeler plenty of exploring along little-used tracks through mainly gentle, rolling countryside. Special Attractions: Easy, historic pass road; Access to a network of 4WD trails. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any)."
