Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

"This relatively lightly used trail offers access to a high mountain panorama of the soaring peaks in the Rawah Range, including its monarch Clark Peak, with a short hike. Summiting Clark Peak is a challenging daytrip; it is more easily climbed from the west through the Colorado State Forest or from the end of the Blue Lake Trail, but this is one of the challenging routes for climbing it. Alternatively, the trail works for out-and-back trips of any length with enthralling views. The trail ends up in the Rawah Wilderness Area, with an endless network of former logging roads to explore and try to get lost on. At least one goes over the ridge to the Blue Lake Trail. The possibilities are endless for the addicted backcountry rambler with compass and topographic map or a GPS unit in hand who wants to go beyond the described route or off-trail." Read more
