Wildly beyond our expectations, we “trailer camped” in the RV section. There’s a lot of space between campsites, so you feel a sense of privacy and quiet.
We stayed in the 1-22 section, and every sight has a spectacular view of the San Juan Mountains. I can’t imagine a nicer campground. We saw deer in the camp 3 out of 7 nights! The bugs were minimal, and the weather was gorgeous, but on the warm side during the day (mid 80’s).
Cons: The only con was that the marina was closed for the summer of 2005. I gathered that there was a war between the owner and the park, and they were never able to work out a deal that satisfied both sides. So, the owner closed it, and I guess it’s up for sale.
Although the marina was closed, there are so many other things to do in the region; fish, horseback ride, hike, hot springs, you name it.
We’re definitely going back.
