Williams Creek Trail

Williams Creek Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Williams Creek Trail (Trail 587) in the Weminuche Wilderness reaches the Continental Divide in 10.1 miles. This hike description guides you to the first crossing of Williams Creek. Traveling above the creek, you’ll see various volcanic rock shapes from eroded fins to fluted cliffs.

The trail progresses through forests of Douglas and white fir, limber pine, Gambel oak, aspen, and some beautiful wildflowers. Watch for deer. At the creek crossing, a little area to the right makes a great lunch stop. You can continue on the trail for a long day hike or a multiday backpack. Crossing Williams Creek can be challenging or unsafe during spring runoff."

This was a nicely maintained trail with great views. It was a bit muddy in spots as there had been recent rains.
