Little Blanco Trail to Quartz Lake

Little Blanco Trail to Quartz Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Little Blanco Trail provides a beautiful way to access the Continental Divide. Once you climb to the top of the nearest ridge, you are in alpine country, where the views are just as awesome as expansive. Wildflowers dot the trail in the summer months, and aspens on the lower section of the hike are ablaze in the fall. If the Divide is your destination, consider spending the night at Quartz Lake and making it a day hike from there.

You’ll find a sign at the trailhead. Although it describes Quartz Lake as being 4 miles away, you should know that it is 4.7 miles and a climb of 2,400 feet in elevation. The trip is worth every inch of effort needed to get there. There are no facilities at the trailhead, just a trail register and plenty of room to park. There are places to camp en route."

"This is one of many ways to access the Continental Divide, and it’s a beauty. The hike is rich in alpine country, where the views are magnificent. Wildflowers dot the trail in the summer months. If the Divide is your destination, consider spending the night at Quartz Lake and making it a day hike from there. From the unsigned junction of the Little Blanco and Quartz Lake Trails, hike east on Little Blanco Trail 572. The trail often climbs and descends, but you will eventually reach the highest point along the trail at the Continental Divide. Note that you’ll gain 1,289 feet en route to the Divide and descend 1,036 feet. Rock cairns and post-markers point the way." Read more
