Mount Sneffels Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Mount Sneffels is yet another iconic peak in Colorado that has an entire wilderness named after it. This icon, which can be seen on a clear day as far north as Grand Junction, comes with a good deal of history as well.

It’s widely known to aficionados of movie westerns as the dramatic setting for the majority of the filming in the classic movie True Grit starring John Wayne. Sneffels is named after a volcano in Iceland, which was featured in the book Journey to the Center of the Earth. While Sneffels may not be the center of the Earth, when looking at it from just about any angle, it sure feels that way."
