Nestled just below timberline, Lamphier Lake is the destination of a nice hike into the 33,060-acre Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area. Not only is the lake particularly scenic, but the fishing can be good as well.

Moderately steep trail with lots of rocks. Lamphier creek must be crossed three times but not a problem. Beautiful lake in a typical high mountain basin. Weather changed quickly without warning, we had rain all night with a dramatic drop in temperature. Would go again but probably not plan on camping overnight until next summer.
