"Two falls in North Cheyenne Cañon make for a short and scenic outing. At the trailhead, North Cheyenne Creek emerges in a picture-perfect horsetail spray at Helen Hunt Falls, while a trip up the trail takes you to an overlook at Buffalo Creek and the long slide of Silver Cascade Falls. Helen Hunt Falls is easily visible from the road. There are low stone walls, boulders, and benches for sitting, and a footbridge crossing over the fall enhances the site for picture-taking." The boys and I (Jodi) went out today with full intentions on hiking the St. Mary's trail. We ended up hiking the Silver Cascade Falls Trail instead. This was a very easy hike. Not very far and the steps were helpful in breaking up the climb in elevation. Nice trail but lot's of people. It's not a trail that can be ran as the dirt is to loose. Slippery even when walking.

We did this trail on a cold, windy day when the trail was still muddy and snow packed in places, but it was still fun. Very easy, not much elevation change. Would be very pretty in better weather, was nice even with snow spitting on us. A good one for kids.
