Rio Blanco Reservoir Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Rio Blanco Reservoir is a 120-acre warm-water impoundment of the White River in the sage-covered hills west of Meeker.
This is a very popular bait and bobber panfish fishery. Fish for pike as large as 20 pounds using bait fish, bait-fish imitation streamers such as rabbit-fur Zonkers, or top-water plugs in the shallows by sighting the fish, casting over and in front of it, and retrieving the line across the fish’s line of sight. In the morning and evening, cast plugs that imitate mice or frogs, or popping bugs, over weed beds or subsurface snags to catch bigmouth bass. Channel cats can be taken at night by fishing stink bait in deep water near the dam. The reservoir’s multitude of black crappies, perch, and bluegills can be caught on night crawlers beneath a bobber fished off the bottom."
