"This self-guided 1.5-mile loop trail could well have been this book’s first, rather than twenty-first, entry, since it offers an excellent introduction to the geology and natural history of the area. From May through September, visitors can watch as paleontologists and volunteers meticulously search for fossils at the Mygatt-Moore Dinosaur Quarry. This self-guided trail is operated through a cooperative agreement between the Museum of Western Colorado and the Bureau of Land Management. It is a well maintained trail with fourteen interpretive stops. The trail dissects the Morrison geological formation that is well exposed here in Rabbit Valley. It takes visitors through that formation, climbing and falling 140 feet, with a general elevation of 4,700 feet above sea level." Read more

"Imagine walking across a dry, windswept, rocky mesa, the drone of an interstate just out of earshot, and discovering dinosaur bones! Located only 30 miles west of Grand Junction in Rabbit Valley, this interpreted stroll along a trail through a dinosaur quarry is a rewarding diversion for both dinosaur fans and rock hounds."
