Kokopelli Trail / Troy Built Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Great views out to the Book Cliffs and down to the Colorado River. The singletrack section is steep and technical. This is great riding for advanced cyclists. The ride uses sections of three different trails to create a wonderful mountain bike experience. This ride can be done out and back, but I recommend doing a shuttle. Leave a car at the large parking area on the frontage road at the Mack exit just off Interstate 70.

From Fruita, travel west on Interstate 70 for 15 miles to the Rabbit Valley exit. Go left over the highway to the first road on the left (Kokopelli Trail), turn left, and park in a large parking area with rest rooms on the left. This is a strenuous, fairly long ride on excellent tread. Bring plenty of water. Tread: 8.5 miles on singletrack and 9 miles on doubletrack."

While the single track sections of this route are uncrowded and technically challenging, you spend several miles on gravel roads, and you have too many annoying portage sections for my taste. With so much good riding in the Fruita area, you can definitely find a better ride than this.
