Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Point 13,294, widely known as “The Citadel,” is an underrated and easily accessible Front Range gem that offers a number of diverse routes in all seasons. (The quotation marks indicate this is the summit’s unofficial name—you might not find it on maps.) Its iconic and prominent twin summits can be seen from Loveland Pass and A-Basin to the south.

Herman Gulch and Herman Lake are a very popular tourist destination throughout the summer, and the trailhead fills up quickly on weekends with good weather. In spring the skiing opportunities this valley offers are superb. Nearby neighbors Grays and Torreys Peaks hog most of the attention, being fourteeners with popular ski routes such as Dead Dog, Lost Rat, and the Empeor, but Herman and Dry Gulches should not be overlooked."
