Mount Arkansas Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Mount Arkansas is one of the most underrated mountains in Colorado. Driving south on CO 91 from Copper Mountain Ski Resort, you may have noticed the ruggedness of the west faces of a few Tenmile and Mosquito Range peaks along the road as you drive toward Fremont Pass. The Climax Mine has been busy these days, mining the area around Fremont Pass for molybdenum, and as a result a few peaks have been closed off to the public (Bartlett Mountain being one of them).
While the mine may steal the traveler’s attention, a prominent cirque directly south of the pass is difficult to miss. The uninformed would assume this cirque is composed primarily of the western backsides of fourteeners of the Mosquito Range, and they would be partially correct. Amid all these mining claims, towering walls, and jagged ridgelines lies Mount Arkansas."
