Shoshone Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"Less than 10 miles up the Big Thompson Canyon, Ramsay- Shockey Open Space provides everything you’d want in a mountain hiking experience: a walk in the woods to mountain vistas plus A- list wildlife. Camping, fishing, and boating are all bonuses.

Pinewood Reservoir is just one of twelve that are part of the Colorado–Big Thompson project, designed to provide a regular water supply to the eastern slope of the Rockies by diverting and storing water from the western slope of the mountains. Fortunately, outdoor recreation was included in the project plans. Begin your hike by walking over the dam that creates the 100-acre reservoir."
