Ohio Pass Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Ohio Pass is the road biker’s backdoor to Crested Butte. This awesome part-gravel road connecting Gunnison to Kebler Pass Road is delightful in its scenery as well as its obscurity. Cruise back to Gunny on the highway to complete a classic loop. It kind of amazes me that this isn’t on everybody’s list of go-to rides. The route’s ongoing obscurity only adds to its world-class awesomeness.
Possibly the reason more people don’t pedal Ohio Pass is the surface of the road (CR 730). The pass itself is dirt, and it spills out onto Kebler Pass Road, which is also partially dirt, and that scares away a lot of road bikers. On the other hand, the mileage leading up to the pass is paved, and that scares away the mountain bikers. Meanwhile, the tourists in cars are satisfied with the more direct but still scenic CO 135, or else they stick to Kebler Pass. What we have here is a rare opportunity to ride a top-notch route that isn’t infested with motorists or crawling with other riders."
