Cochetopa Creek Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a small stream draining a high, sage-covered valley on the west side of the Cochetopa Hills. Key Species: Rainbow trout.
The Coleman easement below Dome Lakes is heavily grazed and suffers from low water, but you can drive to it, and this stretch is designated Wild Trout water. Rainbow trout up to 15 inches can be caught using small-stream tactics and common attractor dry flies. Streambed vegetation precludes spinners or heavy nymphs, except during high water. Stocked rainbows in the private stretches are susceptible to standard attractor dry flies and nymphs, worms, salmon eggs, PowerBait, and spinners. Ask for permission."
