"This is the upper trail into the Ruby Anthracite Creek drainage and offers spectacular views of the western side of the Ruby Mountain Range. It leads toward what is thought to be the largest contiguous aspen forest in North America. The lower Anthracite Creek/Dark Canyon Trail (FS Trail #830) connects to this trail deep inside the Raggeds Wilderness Area. To connect, however, you must cross Ruby Anthracite Creek. That’s usually not possible until July due to spring runoff No matter, an out-and-back trip along this trail is fabulous from early June until the snow flies in the fall." Read more
