Italian Creek Road Professional Reviews and Guides
"Italian Creek Road is not as well known as Pearl Pass and Taylor Pass. However, it offers some unique challenges to the hard-core four-wheeler, primarily in the form of boulder fields and bogs. It is part of a great loop trail when combined with Pearl and Taylor. Both ends of the trail are popular recreation areas for hikers, bikers, fisherman, ATV and dirt bike riders. Many great places to camp along the trail. The connecting Reno Divide portion is less traveled and very remote. Combine this trail with Pearl and Taylor Passes for a great weekend adventure. Popular run for 4-wheel-drive clubs. A narrow, remote road with steep climbs and potential mud bogs in wet weather. Moderate rating is based on dry conditions. Becomes difficult in rainy weather especially in early part of summer. A stock 4x4 with high clearance and low-range gearing can manage the trail when dry. Aggressive tire tread is very important. Do not drive this trail alone. Not recommended for novice drivers. Alternate trip via the Upper Reno Divide is difficult and dangerous."
