Guanella Pass Trail

Guanella Pass Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Today, this very popular route is used year-round for picnics, camping, hunting, and cross-country skiing. The easy 2WD route is very scenic and provides good fall viewing of the aspens. The route starts at the tiny township of Grant and heads north on FR 118 beside Geneva Creek, traveling through a wooded valley with scenic rock formations along the road.

The roadside alternates between private property and national forest. Special Attractions: Attractive scenery with expansive views from the summit; An accessible backcountry route, which can be undertaken by passenger vehicles; Fall viewing of the aspens. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any)."
