I have driven this and I ran my first marathon from Grand Junction to Fruita over Rim Rock Drive. I hike up there all the time on the trails. This is by far one of my most favorite places in the world.

Motorcycled this run in Aug. '08. Great fun. Hard to keep eyes on road! Lots of pull-offs. Savor the runs up and down, where you feel as if you are in the canyons, not just looking at them from above. Side trip to Glade Park provided fast and dramatic change in climate. Good hiking. Stayed at Willow Pond B&B in Grand Junction. Nice alternative to roadside inns.

While living in GJ for 3 years altogether, we took many a visitor for a drive on the monument. It's absolutely beautiful and never gets old. As a side trip, go to Glade Park and to the little store to see if they still sell the jerky. It's second to none!
