Golden Gate State Park

Golden Gate State Park Professional Review and Guide

"A beautiful and seldom-visited state park is located 25 miles west of Denver. The main attractions on this hike are great vistas, wildflowers, colorful aspens in the fall, an old homestead, fishing, and rugged hiking if you do the loop."

"What a beautiful State Park. This well known loop is designed for the rider who wants some challenging, technical descents and climbs with some easy cruising sprinkled in along the way.

The technical difficulty is often psychology, since lush growth along Deer Creek often obstructs your visibility making quick reflexes a definite asset. One note, trails in the park can be obstructed early in the biking season with snow. Try this trail in mid-to-late June when the wildflowers are at their best. Terrain: Smooth and sandy hardpack, loose rocks, stream crossings."

"Scenic views; challenging technical climbs and descents. This ride is not for the faint of heart. Tread: 5.3 miles on singletrack and 2.9 miles on doubletrack."

This was a very easy trail. It would be great for trail running (as I saw many do) but was a very easy hike. All-in-all it was a nice leasurly, beautiful hike that me and my dog enjoyed!
