"Birdsong and a babbling brook accompany hikers along this pleasant journey through an aspen- and pine-fringed meadow that leads to a homesteader’s cabin. Kids may see forgotten horse-drawn farm equipment in the tall grass surrounding the cabin." Read more

We also made the loop up horseshoe trail to mule deer trail and back down black bear trail. The views are gorgeous! I want to do this hike in the fall. Looking out over the Continental Divide covered with snow was really a treat. Much of the route was snow covered, but Black Bear Trail was downright icy. Bring hiking poles and be careful! The views are worth it. For those who aren't interested in braving the ice, you could still get as far as the panoramic views on Black Bear, and then turn around and go back on Mule Deer and Horseshoe. Great November hike!
