Others have mentioned the distances, no news there. What is not mentioned is it’s a great snowshoe trail. Parking begins to the right at the Guanella Pass road pull out, just past the camp site, but is still very easy. Go right to Silver Dollar lake. If you turn left into the lollipop parking and go up the farther road, that goes to Mt. Bierstadt. Go mid week, no one is up there, the view is spectacular and all totaled its about a 3.5 out and back. Too steep to go down to the lake on snowshoes for us, but it can be done. The trail is well packed, watch for the Silver Dollar trial sign and follow the most logical trail routes from one blue tree blaze to the next. We started at noon and made it back by 2:45 to the truck. Once down you’ll want to stop at the Guanella Pass Brewery in Georgetown, quaint, personable staff, great beer and supports the small town during the off season.
