South Fork of the Cache La Poudre River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Flowing north out of Rocky Mountain National Park through the Cache La Poudre Wilderness Area, the South Fork joins the main stem of the river just west of Dutch George Flats Campground.
During low water, hike upstream into a steep canyon just above the confluence with the Poudre River to work the deeper pools. During high water, use the trail beginning at Mountain Park Campground. Browns, brookies, and rainbows up to 12 inches can be caught in the canyon. Cutbows and brookies are in the higher, flat stretches. There are no restrictions on bait. Dry-fly attractor patterns work well.
Key Species: Brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, cutbows."
