Spinney Mountain Reservoir Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Spinney Mountain Reservoir (created by the city of Aurora) is one of Colorado’s finest lake fisheries. It has given anglers many rewarding days for many years, although recently the lake’s production has declined somewhat. All things considered, however, it’s still a very good place to fly fish and on any given summer weekend the lake is covered with boats and float tubes filled with anglers catching and releasing fish.
Despite this popularity and heavy pressure, production remains generally good and one should not be discouraged by what appears to be a crowd. Spinney is one of the few reservoirs in Colorado designated a Gold Medal Water. Types of Fish: Rainbow, brown, Snake River cutthroats and northern pike. This eTrail covers the "where, when, and how" to fish in this region. You'll get a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to bring, and the best flies to use."
