The trails that weave through Elk Meadow Park are some of the finest in all of Jefferson County. While the climb to the top of Bergen Peak is a bit of a grunt, the views of Pikes Peak, Mount Evans, Mount Bierstadt, and the Continental Divide are not to be missed. Not only that, but the descent from the peak packs enough punch for the climbing to seem like a distant memory. The singletrack throws out smoother softer sections, but you leave remembering the screaming descent of threading tight rock outcroppings and barreling over big drop-offs. Oh yeah, there are more switchbacks here than pine cones. Terrain: Wide and narrow singletrack and doubletrack that roll over smooth terrain through meadows; also steeper ascending and descending sections that roll over rocky terrain and through mixed conifer forests.
