Triple Threat Trail

Triple Threat Trail Professional Review and Guide

"How about three summits on one great hike? This classic trek offers a full day of breathtaking high-altitude views along a mostly unmarked, above-timberline route. Beginning at the historic Old Fall River Road, the path climbs nearly without interruption to the rounded peaks of three very old mountains: Chapin, Chiquita, and Ypsilon.

Unforgettable sights of distant high mountains, alpine ridges, and richly forested valleys lie in every direction, and the descent through primeval woods to Chapin Creek is a perfect finale to the trip. It is an arduous hike indeed, however, and just when you think it’s over, the last stretch of trail climbs 520 feet in a half-mile. It is a chore just to lift your boots off the ground by this point, but it’s worth every weary step."
