The Keyhole

The Keyhole Professional Review and Guide

"The Keyhole opens the door by which thousands of climbers reach the top of Longs Peak. For many, however, The Keyhole itself is an exciting goal. A web of unmarked routes to the top covers Longs Peak. All but a tiny percentage of
climbers who make it to the top ascend along a way that has been called The Keyhole for nearly a century and a half.

Though not as obvious as the distinctive notch on the east face of Longs, the much smaller Keyhole is just as distinctive and nearly as easy to see in the ridge between Longs and Storm Peaks. This Keyhole ridge separates the north and west faces of Longs Peak—so popular a mountaineering goal that every
assemblage of rocks seems to be named. As with summit climbs, an early start is best when The Keyhole is the goal."
