Stone Lake

Stone Lake Professional Review and Guide

"Although this name could be justly applied to most lakes in this guide, the rounded boulders around the lake testify to the appropriateness of its label. From the Irving Hale Divide (see Hike 35), the trail descends past a pond, flowery
meadows, and Marten Peak views to meet Hell Canyon at its higher reaches, below the Continental Divide.

Hikers reach the canyon floor at the outlet stream from Stone Lake. Cliffs to the left and stream to the right assisted by cairns where the trail grows faint direct hikers to the lake’s shore a couple of miles from Irving Hale Divide."
