Notchtop Mountain

Notchtop Mountain Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Rocky Mountain National Park is home to some of the most aesthetic skiing in Colorado. Bear Lake is an ultrapopular tourist destination in the summer months and makes for a great access point for numerous backcountry ski options in the spring. This region features several dramatic basins, each of which sports short approaches and enough ski routes to keep you busy for many return trips. Emerald and Dream Lakes Basin is home to the Tyndall Glacier, Hallett’s northeast face, and Flattop’s south face.

The next basin north grants access to Flattop’s north face, the Ptarmigan Fingers, and the Notchtop Couloir. If one were so inclined, had a good weather window, and were decently fit, he or she could theoretical ski Notchtop’s southern-facing line in the morning, followed by a line in the east-facing fingers, and then cap it off with a ski of Flattop’s north face—all in a single day."
