Mount Irving Hale

Mount Irving Hale Professional Review and Guide

"Mount Irving Hale is not as high as most mountains in this guide; it is however, fortuitously located for superb views.
From the Irving Hale Divide (see Hike 35), Mount Irving Hale is an easy ascent south on a pathless tundra ridge avoiding a cliff drop to Hell Canyon. Two large piles of rock (cairns) are visible atop the double summit of Irving Hale that from
below resemble two climbers looking over the canyon. Blocking boulders precede a false summit.

The true top is not large, but the views repay all effort getting there. Huge Lake Granby extends through Middle Park toward the Gore Range defining the western horizon. The ragged spine of Indian Peaks, accented by Mount Toll and Paiute Peak, rises on the southeast."
