Finch Lake

Finch Lake Professional Review and Guide

"This is one of the many hiking destinations in Wild Basin named for wildlife.

Wild Basin has been splashed with many bird names in seemingly random fashion. The presence of a bird name does not necessarily mean that hikers will see that particular creature near that named point. At Finch Lake, the chances of seeing Cassin’s finches are good, less so house finches and nil for brown-capped rosy finches in summer, but maybe in winter. Finches by other names—pine grosbeak, red crossbill, or
pine siskin—also may turn up at Finch Lake."
