All the following cutthroat lakes are very high-altitude waters and tend to be covered with ice until July during normal-snow years. Weather at these altitudes can change very rapidly, and lightning presents a very real danger, especially to someone holding a graphite rod. Many lakes can only be reached by strenuous hiking. Take warm clothes, a first-aid kit, and food. Know your level of fitness, and time your fishing so you can reach your base camp or car before dark. Key Species: Greenback cutthroat trout.
