Allenspark Trail to Calypso Cascades

Allenspark Trail to Calypso Cascades Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"These cascades display lovely pink Calypso orchids in midsummer. Forest fire has opened views of high peaks above Wild Basin.

Calypso Cascades is a popular destination in Rocky Mountain National Park, but by starting at the Allens Park Trailhead, the hike to the cascades is free from the bustle of crowds until you reach the destination. The trail offers interesting scenery opened by a 1978 forest fire."

A little snowy this time of year, but still not bad. We had the trail to ourselves until we got to the cascades, after which we shared it with several people. Everyone else seems to come in from Wild Basin trailhead, though. Great hike with wonderful views and two (if you continue to Ouzel falls) spectacular waterfalls.
