Red Rocks / Dakota Ridge Loop

Red Rocks / Dakota Ridge Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A very scenic run with amazing views of Denver and Morrison as well as the red rock formations. The Dakota Ridge is quite rocky in places, so keep a slow pace. The Red Rocks Trail is much smoother. Expect mountain bikers on all segments of this trail as well as traffic noise along the northern and eastern segments of the trail, where major highways are located.

Grade: Moderate overall, though there are steep sections at the beginning of the route and just prior to the junction with the Morrison Slide Trail. The Dakota Ridge Trail is rocky in numerous places."

Good workout even for more advanced runners. A couple of steep sections as well as some rocky/technical sections, but overall pretty easy to negotiate. Pretty darn fun and close to town
