"The Mount Thomas summit, a bump on Red Table Mountain, offers spectacular 360-degree views of the central Colorado Rockies! Overwhelming views stretch from the Maroon Bells and Elk Mountains in the southwest, circling northwest to the Flat Tops, then I-70 north of Eagle. The Gore Range rises in the northeast, with the Sawatch Mountains towering in the east and southeast. Cattle still graze on some of the grassy southern slopes. Beautiful alpine wild flowers decorate the upper ridges. The trail traverses an open ridge for about 1.6 miles, so be sure to make the summit and be heading down before thunderstorms hit." Read more

Great variety. Meadows, flowers, ridges, scree, grand views. Dog friendly (for mountain hiking dogs) Flowers were incredible in July. Tip: A standard SUV can make it to parking much closer to the trailhead than the guide would suggest. Carves at least 1/2 mile off the hike.
