Petroglyph Point Trail

Petroglyph Point Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This trail offers an opportunity for a close-up view of Mesa Verde National Park. Depending on the heat, it is an easy hike that accommodates most walkers eager to delve a bit deeper into this popular park. The hike is short, but offers something car-bound visitors miss: an easy trek that follows the curvy rim of a deep canyon speckled with rolling waves of juniper and piñon.

It’s a self-guided interpretive trail that educates as much as it astounds. The largest set of petroglyphs in the park greets the sun-soaked hiker at the far end of the loop, along with a story of the Anasazi carved into the side of a cliff more than one thousand years ago! Be sure to bring plenty of water for this one, as the sun blasts the area. Wear sunscreen, too, lest you resemble a lobster at the end of the day."

This was a fun trail. Lots of interesting things to find and explore on the way. In the summer remember to bring plenty of water.
