    Junction Creek Trail

    Junction Creek Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Experience the Junction Creek Trail as a streamside stroll or as a day hike on the Colorado Trail, and your whole family will be hooked. Along the way you’ll meet smiling hikers, bikers, joggers, babies-in-packs, and kids-in-tow, as well as the occasional backpacker hiking the ?nal portion of the 487-mile Denver-to-Durango trek.

In autumn, it too shifts to shades of glossy bronze and orange, becoming a colorful but toxic candidate for a child’s
“pretty leaf” collection. At 0.5 mile, on the right, kids like to check out the boulder topped with stacks of balanced rocks. This ever-changing attraction is also a distraction and a good place to talk to kids about leave-no-trace ethics. Is it okay to stack rocks here just because a lot of people use the trail? Would the flat-topped boulder look more natural without the people-made topping?"
