Ignacio-Bayfield Loop Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Two things you should know about cycling in the Durango area: There are a ton of amazing rides and a variety of ways to do them. If you ask a handful of Durango locals about the Ignacio–Bay?eld Loop, their explanations are likely to vary. But what won’t change is the fact that this ride has mellow country road spinning, a handful of tough climbs, and miles and miles of great scenery.
This ride starts at Santa Rita Park on the across US 160. Here the scenery transforms south end of Durango, adjacent to the Animas from cottonwood-dotted grassland to forests River. From here, head south (downstream) of pine, scrub oak, and aspen. The road itself on the Animas River Trail, crossing the river maintains a consistent uphill trajectory, with twice as you pass behind several shopping plazas on your way out of town."
