Hermosa Creek Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This 20-mile-long stream flows south through Hermosa Park, one of the prettiest valleys in the western part of the state, and joins the Animas River about 10 miles north of Durango.
Hermosa Creek has developed into one of the better rainbow trout fisheries in southwest Colorado, possibly due to the limited access and varied stream structure throughout its length. Anglers are reporting catching high numbers of fish, some in the 12- to 14-inch range, on a variety of general flies and lures, as well as on bait.
Key Species: Rainbow trout, brook trout, rainbow/cutthroat hybrid (cutbow)."
